Project Overview
As a global supplier of lightweight aluminum chassis components for the automotive industry, Neuman Aluminium Raufoss Mexico needed to acquire IATF 16949 certification at its manufacturing site in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico. While the IATF 16949 certification is a requirement for entry into the automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEM) supply chain - a necessity for Neuman Aluminium - there were additional reasons why pursuing the certification was a high priority.
Receiving the certification would enable Neuman Aluminium to adhere to its corporate policy of maintaining business credentials at the same level as its competitors and consistently delivering the high-quality products for which it is globally known.

It ordinarily takes up to 18 months to achieve the IATF 16949 certification; however, due to the COVID pandemic, this auto part manufacturer was left with a shorter-than-usual timespan to pursue the certification: only six months.
Our Solution
Because the client’s manufacturing site receives support from remote locations, it was essential to identify their interaction to assess the project’s scope properly. Upon doing so, the client received adequate orientation from ABS QE, allowing the implementation of an accurate and inclusive course of action and accelerating the certification process for the Lagos de Moreno site to fit the minimal timeframe.
Through ABS QE’s timely scheduling of initial certification audit events and technical reviews, the client could achieve a high-grade certification within the timetable goal. ABS QE also provided new insights on the improvement cycle inherent in its processes and reported value-added findings for the client’s work team.
Value Delivered
The services ABS QE provided to this auto parts manufacturer resulted in exponential value. Not only did Neuman Aluminium gain a 66% increase in customers, but many of its existing customers requested a five-year project term extension.
The client also experienced an improvement in the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) as it skyrocketed from 78 to 90%, obtained the Supplier Quality Excellence Award for another consecutive year and increased overall staff awareness of the level of competence expected to achieve organizational objectives.
